New York City based, Leicester born James Maddock is a celebrated singer-songwriter with a raw, soulful
voice whose unique blend of Folk Rock and Americana resonates deeply with audiences around the globe.
Originally fronting the Columbia Records band Wood whose debut Album Songs From Stamford Hill featured
prominently on TV shows such as “Dawson’s Creek,”
Maddock moved from England to New York City in 2003
transforming into an independent solo artist during the
decades that followed.
Drawing on musical influences that include legends such as
Van Morrison, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and Rod Stewart, as
well as contemporary stalwarts like Steve Forbert and Paul
Brady, his evocative lyrics and heartfelt melodies echo the
spirit of these icons while establishing a distinctive voice that
captivates listeners. His talent has also led him to open for
renowned artists like Paul Weller and more recently,
Counting Crows, where he performed as a duo alongside
guitarist Dave Immergluck.
He has performed regularly with Willie Nile, Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors), David Immergluck (Counting
Crows), Brian Mitchell (Levon Helm Band) and SNL drummer Shawn Pelton and has shared the stage with
many well known artists such as Bruce Springsteen, The Waterboys, Pete Seeger, Levon Helm and many
others. According to radio legend Vin Scelsa, Maddock's "heartbreakingly beautiful and exquisitely crafted"
music "touches the soul."
With an impressive career that has earned him major record deals, rave reviews and a New York Music Award
for Best Americana Album, among other things, James continues to top radio listener polls and his songs
have been regularly used in popular TV shows in the US.
With a new solo album in the works and gearing up for an exciting European tour set for 2025, James is
promising to bring his unique blend of folk rock and Americana to fans across the continent.
