A Flying Start to the Year at Badlands Records

A busy start to the year at Badlands. From the War Child HELP (2) compilation and standout New Music Friday releases to an intimate Katherine Priddy in-store and the exciting...

The year’s barely warmed up and already it feels like the music gods have been spoiling us. From huge new releases and special charity projects to packed in-store events and the ever-busy New Music Fridays, it’s been a lively start to the year here at Badlands.

A Powerful Release Supporting War Child

One of the standout records recently has been HELP (2), the incredible compilation supporting War Child UK. It’s a seriously stacked project, bringing together artists including Arctic Monkeys, Beck, Damon Albarn, Depeche Mode, Pulp, Wet Leg, Young Fathers and many more.

The double LP also features a hidden 7" with a live version of Oasis performing Acquiesce from their sold-out Wembley run — a pretty special addition for collectors.

New Music Friday Highlights

New Music Fridays have been landing thick and fast lately, with plenty of great records finding their way into the racks. If you fancy a proper dig through everything landing each week, you can browse our New Releases collection online.

Among the recent highlights is The Mountain by Gorillaz, packed with the band’s signature genre-hopping sound and big ideas, alongside Nothing’s About To Happen To Me by Mitski, another cracking release from one of the most compelling voices in modern songwriting.

We’ve also been loving The Mirror by Buck Meek, known to many as a member of Big Thief. It’s a beautifully understated record that blends folk, country and indie touches with real warmth.

A Special In-Store with Katherine Priddy

One of the highlights in the shop recently was welcoming Katherine Priddy for an intimate in-store performance celebrating her new album These Frightening Machines.

These smaller shows always feel extra special - a packed room, stunning live music and the chance to meet the artist afterwards. Katherine’s songs sounded incredible in the room, and plenty of signed copies found their way home with fans.

A Signed Test Pressing from Sleaford Mods

One particularly fun moment recently came courtesy of Sleaford Mods, whose latest album The Demise Of Planet X landed as part of a busy New Music Friday via Rough Trade Records. Somehow managing to sound even more Sleaford Mods-y than ever, the duo return with their trademark mix of razor-sharp commentary and dry humour - taking aim at everything from Trump and empty consumerism to austerity and even lazy dog walkers.

The album also features an eclectic cast of guests including Liam Bailey, Aldous Harding, BIG SPECIAL and even Gwendoline Christie.

To celebrate the release, the band sent us something pretty special! A signed test pressing of the album. We put it up for grabs in a giveaway for our customers and followers, with one lucky winner getting the chance to pick up a seriously rare piece of Sleaford Mods vinyl history from the shop.

Springsteen Announces New Tour

There was also big news recently as Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band announced their upcoming Land of Hope and Dreams American tour, kicking off in Minneapolis this spring.

It’s a 20-date run across the United States, featuring arena shows and a final outdoor performance in Washington, D.C. Safe to say there’s plenty of excitement building already.

Come and Have a Browse

As the year gets properly underway, there’s plenty more on the horizon. New vinyl arriving every week, special releases landing in the racks and more in-store moments to look forward to. Plus Record Store Day 2026 is announced and happening!

If you’re nearby, pop in and have a browse, we’re always happy to help you find your next favourite record. And if you’re further afield, take a look through our latest new releases online.
