Originally released on the Theresa label in 1980, Kabsha is widely considered to be one of Idris Muhammad's finest sessions as a bandleader.
Recorded immediately following his work on Pharoah Sanders' Journey to the One, this album finds the "uber drummer" leading a powerhouse ensemble through a strippedback and direct performance of pure rhythm and melody.
Featuring tenor titans Pharoah Sanders and George Coleman, the session balances hard-swinging bop with profound spiritual depth.
Kabsha captures a vital chapter of Muhammad's career and his enduring musical partnership with Sanders, showcasing the rhythmic brilliance that established him as a cornerstone of the 1980s spiritual and post-bop scene.
Kabsha will be released on 180g 'One- step Pressing' transparent indigo/ deep pink marble vinyl LP for Record Store Day 2026 on 18th, April 2026, limited to just 1,700 copies worldwide.
