Originally released in 1989 by the New York audiophile label Chesky Records, Non-Stop to Brazil captures the legendary Luiz Bonfa, one of the primary architects of the Bossa Nova sound, in an intimate, solo acoustic setting. Best known globally as the brilliant composer of "Manha de Carnaval" from the landmark film Black Orpheus, Bonfa is an undisputed icon of Brazilian music. This recording showcases his virtuoso acoustic guitar work, highlighting the delicate melodic grace, rhythmic sophistication, and rich harmonic textures that have influenced generations of jazz and classical guitarists worldwide.
The album features a stunning selection of Luiz Bonfa's elegant arrangements, offering a definitive look at his masterful nylon-string technique. From sweeping, evocative rhythms to intricate fingerpicking patterns, the album stands as a breathtakingly high-fidelity document of a master musician at work, putting the listener directly in the room with his guitar.
Non-Stop to Brazil is released on 180g One-Step Pressing yellow and green pinwheel splatter vinyl LP for Record Store Day Black Friday, numbered and limited to just 500 copies exclusively for RSD UK. This release is the first-ever vinyl pressing of the album, which has been long out of print since its original CD release 37 years ago. The LP features a color variant designed to complement the album's original floral-themed cover art that will remain strictly exclusive to this Record Store Day run. This release is a part of the Chesky Original Masters series.
